When do you find yourself procrastinating?
When do you procrastinate?
If you know the causes, you can figure out how to act. First, we’ll introduce the three major reasons.
1,When we feel bored
This boredom doesn’t just refer to physical boredom, but also mental boredom. In such situations, we tend to procrastinate more.
The same job can either be done soon, or you might procrastinate and not do it.
It doesn’t matter whether you can do it or not; what mostly affects you is your emotions.
If you feel bored in general, it’s not real boredom; you’re pretending, and you’ll use it as an excuse to procrastinate.
I sometimes stop myself from thinking before doing something.
2,You don’t understand what you’re doing.
If you don’t understand how to do something, you need to ask someone, research it, or find another way. It’s easy to make assumptions, but when you do, you tend to procrastinate instead of taking action.
It’s a very common situation: when I don’t know the way, I tend to procrastinate everything.
3,When you’re busy
Is it physical busyness?
It doesn’t matter whether you have time or not; what mostly affects you is your emotions.
I often used excuses like this phrase.
I have had the same experience.
There are other reasons, but I’ve written the three main ones. Do you have your own reason? And what’s the result if you procrastinate?
If you procrastinate, things will become harder
I’ve never had any good memories related to procrastination.
Many people have had the same experience, and perhaps many don’t think “It’s good to procrastinate”.
If, at that time, I had completed something, I could have finished it in a shorter time or with less effort. Now, if you don’t do something, it will appear in front of you as bigger or harder than before.
I have a lot of regrets about procrastination.
Don’t worry, many people have had the same experience!
We recommend that you don’t procrastinate in order to reduce your burden
If you feel bored doing something, it’s easier to do it now rather than later.
Otherwise, you might think you’re giving time to your future self.
We suggest a solution to avoid procrastination: use a to-do list.
Use your favorite to-do tools. If you don’t have one or don’t use one, your phone’s memo app or a piece of paper will work just fine.
Don’t procrastinate—choose the tools that work for you.
How to stop procrastinating and create your to-do list
First step: Make your to-do list
It’s easier to understand your to-dos when you write them down.
When you only think about them in your mind, it can be hard to remember everything. Your brain gets confused by having too many tasks, and it ends up stopping you from thinking clearly.
Finding out the actual number of tasks is very important. First, you need to understand what your real tasks are.
Second step: You can do them
If there’s something you need to do immediately, do it after checking your to-do list.
You already have a to-do list, so you just need to take action before procrastinating.
I sometimes lack motivation and want to procrastinate, but when I complete one more task, I feel a sense of satisfaction.
It’s a great feeling!
Eventually, you need to do something. It’s better to start early, as there are many benefits.
Third step: Don’t think, “I don’t have time”
In my experience, time is a very interesting thing. You might think, “I don’t have time,” but if you change your mindset and think, “I have time,” you’ll be able to find it.
You often check your physical time, but you might realize that you don’t actually lack time — it’s just that you’re feeling like you don’t have enough of it.
You can do it now!
Creating a to-do list is a very easy way to start. You can do it now.
If you feel it’s not the right fit for you, you can find other ways.
We hope that your procrastination will decrease, and that you will feel fewer regrets than before.
